When I worked for a Water Authority in the UK in the 1970s I became project manager for flood forecasting development. When I moved to a firm of consultants I was also managing projects in the UK. From 1984 to 1991 I was managing two projects for the World Meteorological Organisation, one in Niger and one in Indonesia. From 1992 to 1993 I was deputy team leader of a multi-disciplinary project in Botswana. From 1994 to 2007 I set up and supervised projects for the European Union and the French government as part of the Middle-East Peace Process. During this period as I had to make frequent visits to the region I was not able to manage projects. Since then I have managed a three country project in Southern Africa.
